About this Melbourne Airport parking guide
A practical reference for parking melbourne airport trips — which car park fits your terminal, and what the drive in actually involves.
This site is a practical guide to melbourne airport parking. It is not the airport booking system, and it is not a reseller. It is a reference for travellers who want to understand the options before they commit.
Why we wrote it
Parking here has more moving parts than it looks from the freeway.
Two terminal decks, open-air Value lots, a Wait Zone, valet, QR entry and grace periods — spread across several official pages.
Why this guide exists
Melbourne Airport parking looks simple until you are actually doing it. Two terminal car parks sit against the terminals, the open-air Value lots sit further out with a shuttle, the Wait Zone on Mercer Drive runs on its own pricing, and valet runs again differently. Then there is the booking system itself, with QR codes at the boom gate and grace periods that decide whether a quick stop stays free.
The airport publishes all of that, but it lives across several pages written for different jobs. We pull it into one place and put it in the order you will actually need it. Before you drive, you get terminal fit and road access via the Tullamarine Freeway and Exit 18. At the barrier, you get entry, QR codes and grace periods. On your return, you get the walk back, the shuttle wait and where you left the car.
If you are comparing airport parking for a morning flight or a late arrival pickup, this page explains our approach. The detail lives on the parking pages themselves, kept short enough to read on a phone in the passenger seat.
What we cover
If you are trying to work out where to leave a car at Tullamarine, it should be somewhere on this site. Every topic below has its own page with entry routes and timing notes.
How we keep it accurate
We work from the airport published parking and transport information: car park names, terminal access, shuttle frequency, pricing structures and entry routes. Where the airport states a figure, we quote it. Where it depends on your dates, we say so.
Start from the source
Read the airport first
Car park names, terminal links, shuttle frequency and entry via Exit 18 come from Melbourne Airport own material. We do not rename products or guess at access points.
Say what varies
Dates change things
Rates and availability shift with dates and demand. When a detail depends on your terminal or travel day, we say it depends rather than giving a number that will be wrong by the weekend.
Update the page
Change it where it lives
When the airport changes a car park, a shuttle pattern or a grace period, we update that page directly. No site-wide notice, just the corrected paragraph where you will look for it.
Limits, stated plainly
What we don't do
We describe the airport parking products. We do not sell them, and we cannot change a booking from here.
No payments, no bookings held here
We do not process parking payments and we do not hold your booking. Bookings go through the airport own system. Amendments, gate problems and refunds sit with the airport Parking Help Centre.
No invented prices
Rates on these pages come from what Melbourne Airport publishes. Drive-up rates are marked as drive-up because they differ from booked rates. If a price is not published, we leave it out.
Who it's for
The common thread is a trip through Melbourne Airport and a car that needs somewhere to sit. Most readers arrive with one of these jobs in mind.
Collectors
Picking someone up without circling
If you are meeting an arrival, read the Wait Zone and short-stay notes before you leave home. The free windows are short and the forecourt does not forgive a second lap.
Short-stay and Wait ZoneLonger trips
A week away changes the maths
For multi-day trips the Value lots with the shuttle often make more sense than a terminal bay. Compare trip length first, then terminal, then how much walking or waiting suits you.
Value and long stays
The precinct we're writing about
Melbourne Airport sits off the Tullamarine Freeway, with the terminal complex at the centre and the Value car parks further out in the precinct. Knowing the terminal layout makes the parking map make sense.
Terminal 2 handles international flights. Terminals 1 and 3 take Qantas and Virgin Australia domestic services. Terminal 4 is home to Jetstar and Rex. That split decides whether you are looking at the T123 deck or the T4 deck, and how far the walk or shuttle will be.
Reading the layout
Terminals 1, 2 and 3 share the T123 deck
Closest bays to international and the two main domestic terminals.
Terminal 4 pairs with its own deck
Shorter walk for Jetstar and Rex departures and arrivals.
Value South sits further out
Open-air parking with the shuttle link back to the terminals.
Independence and limits
This guide is independent of Melbourne Airport. We describe its parking products; we do not speak for it. Trademarks and product names belong to their owners, and the airport own pages remain the final word on prices and conditions.
That distance is deliberate. It lets us be plain about trade-offs: when a terminal bay saves twenty minutes, when Value South saves money but costs you a shuttle ride, and when neither suits a late-night pickup. We are the map, not the car park.
If you need a decision made on your booking, or a gate opened at 1am, that is the airport Parking Help Centre, not us. Our address reference is Level 2, Terminal 2, Departure Drive, Melbourne Airport, VIC 3045, and the help line is +61 3 9297 1600. Use those contacts for anything tied to a live booking.

How to use the site
Start with your terminal, then your trip length. Terminal decides whether you are looking at T123 or T4. Trip length decides whether terminal parking or Value South makes more sense.
First — terminal
Match the deck to your flight
Flying Qantas, Virgin or international? Start at T123. Flying Jetstar or Rex? Start at T4. The terminal pages show the walk and the access lanes.

Days away set the value
A night or two suits a terminal bay. A week or more often points to Value South and the shuttle. Compare booked rates against drive-up rates before you decide.

Gate trouble has its own page
Only picking someone up? Go straight to short-stay and the Wait Zone. Stuck at a boom gate with a QR code that will not scan? The booking help page is the one you want.
Booking helpIs this the official Melbourne Airport booking site?
No. This is an independent airport parking guide that explains the official options. Bookings are made through the airport own system, and account or gate issues go to the Parking Help Centre on +61 3 9297 1600. For background on how we write, read this page; for steps at the gate, use the booking help guide.
